A lot of people have asked me what I am doing personally in my home and in my business to be more green - or as I like to say "Making Al Gore Proud." At home and with At Your Service, being more green has become a part of our every day living. Since I work from my home, a lot of the things we do effect both. Some really simple steps that you can take are:
- Give up water bottles and use a filtered water pitcher in your fridge. When you need water to go for working out or in the car, use a re-usable bottle
- Use cloth napkins for meals - this can save on paper towels and paper napkins
- We have been replacing our old light bulbs with the new longer lasting ones. They may seem more expensive at first, but they will use less energy and last longer. And it's amazing also how much less heat the new bulbs give off
- Really be mindful of recycling. We have much more in the recycle bin each week now.
- Use canavas bags for the grocery store - they are inexpensive and easy to keep in the car.
- Be mindful of your route in the car. Try to group errands and trips to economize both yout time and your fuel
- Use cold water for laundry. We wash everything except whites in cold and don't see any difference in how clean the clothes look.
Keep it green in your home and office one step at a time. When in doubt...remember the polar bears...we may not have these magestic creatures forever!
