Get out of Town!
Last week I wrote how excited I was to get free maps and a guide book for our upcoming rip to Montreal. They were well worth it - we had a wonderful get-a-way. Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love my business and taking care of my clients, but it can be exhausting and I have to remember to take care of myself. And we have found that Easter weekend is great for travel - hotels are quiet and are practically giving the rooms away.
We left on Friday afternoon (Good Friday) and arrived in Montreal in time to check into our hotel, hit the bar for a couple of relaxing cocktails (that's how I know it's a day off - cocktails in the afternoon!), then we went for dinner.
Interesting at dinner - we went to a wonderful French restaurant right in the heart of the city. We were some of the only diners not speaking French - and what was the word we could understand throughout the restaurant - SPITZER! We did however manage to have a wonderful French dinner - lamb and veal and a very fine wine.
We spent most of Saturday at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts -- which was wise since it was about 15 degrees and 40 mile an hour winds. This is a wonderful museum. Everything from Egypt and ancient Greco-Roman, to modern day. They had a few really beautiful galleries of Renaissance religious art - which we felt made up for not being in church on Easter Sunday - which a close friend of my husband's reminded us of prior to our trip. Seeing the entire life of Christ depicted in outstanding paintings, sculpture (one from the year 1100!), and alters, we discussed the Passion in great detail and got our spiritual experience within the galleries. After the museum it was a few hours of reading and napping at the indoor pool and hot tub. VERY RELAXING!
Sunday we had breakfast and decided to head back home - feeling relaxed and refreshed to face the work week.
Any time you can get away and off the hampster wheel I highly recommend it. You don't have to go far, or spend a lot of money to come home a new person. Just get yourself out of the norm and have some FUN!
